BIOGRAPHY

Maryam Ashkbous received her bachelor's and master's degrees in mechanical engineering from Sharif University of Technology in Iran. During her education and the years following her graduation, she was actively involved in various engineering projects, focusing on design, programming, and simulation. Maryam has also worked as an expert in technology commercialization at tech parks. There, she was responsible for driving the commercialization of innovative technological products, bridging the gap between scientific research and market applications. Through this role, she developed her teamwork and leadership skills. Leveraging her engineering education and experience in technology commercialization, Maryam is currently leading a multidisciplinary PhD project focused on developing an eco-design toolkit. This toolkit assists engineers in integrating sustainability criteria into the early stages of product design. Her research applies artificial intelligence methods to optimize the technical performance of engineering products while reducing greenhouse gas emissions, waste generation, and resource consumption. Her project aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, such as SDGs 3, 9, 10, and 12. Throughout her PhD journey, Maryam has been recognized for her achievements with two prestigious awards: the Next Generation of Women in Aerospace (awarded by CRIAQ) and the Sustainable Health Development award (from CIRODD).
